Apart from the mine, you can also visit the Wieliczka Castle, which between the 13th century and 1945 was the historical seat of the mine's management board. Today it houses three permanent exhibitions devoted to the archaeology and history of the town, and a huge collection of... salt shakers. In short, not the most exciting visit but it at least gives a little life and understanding of the history and experience of the miners, a part that is not at all emphasized when you venture into the bowels yourself.

Cette visite est particulièrement intéressante et impressionnante. On descend à plus de 130m sous terre, par un escalier interminable (on remonte en ascenseur!). Tout est creusé dans le sel gemme, centaines de km de galeries, salles, chapelles, sculptures. Accès depuis Cracovie très facile en train de banlieue. Entrée assez chère. Ne ratez pas la visite du musée qui est proposée après la visite des galeries.

Visite avec un guide en français (se renseigner sur les heures de départ, possibilité d'acheter son billet sur internet en réservant son créneau horaire). Plutôt déçue par cette visite. De longues déambulations dans les couloirs. Quelques belles sculptures en sel notamment la salle des mariages.

Incroyable! Ancien mine de sel bien amenage. Il y a un resturant dedant (en bas) avec le menu mediocre mais le cadre et l'atmosphere est unique.

The visit is worth the trip and do not forget the museum that follows.
Visits in French take place at 10:00, 12:00 and 15 hours and also at 18:00 for tickets bought on the Internet. Allow half - an - hour to buy tickets as there is a counter for foreign guided tours in language.
The tickets are a zl79 for these visits. Discounts for children and students on presentation of a menu.
