BACONAO LAGOON

As you approach the Laguna de Baconao, you will notice how much the landscape changes compared to Santiago de Cuba. The lush vegetation gradually gives way to the aridity of the neighboring province of Guantánamo. There, you will find a very beautiful lacustrine setting surrounded by mountainous foothills. The place is famous for the great diversity of fish that can be observed there, but also for its crocodile breeding. In all, a dozen of these powerful reptiles live here.
