CAFÉ CARIOCA

This traditional café in Santos was inaugurated in 1939 and became a legend throughout the country. Customers from Rio, Recife, Fortaleza brought the famous "pasteis" back to their home towns. The Carioca café was frequented by the city's political personalities and even the former presidents of the Republic Getulio Vargas, Janio Quadros, Joao Gouart and more recently Lula came to eat there. The place is nevertheless very simple, but very nice for a coffee break accompanied by a pastel for the hungriest.
