Since 1982, notaries have been authorized to carry out real estate negotiations as an ancillary activity. In Côte-d'Or, this practice dates back to 1997. Since then, the department's notaries have organized themselves into a real estate negotiation group and are members of the national real estate negotiation network immobilier.notaires.fr. Of the 61 notaries' offices in Côte-d'Or, 29 are members. The Conseil supérieur du notariat has decided to publicize the fact that notaries negotiate, a message relayed by the departmental chambers. In the same way as a real estate agent, the notary offers sellers a mandate, relaying the marketing of his or her property via two notarial advertising websites, www.immonot.com and above all www.immobilier.notaires.fr, the national brand of notaries, where almost 30,000 advertisements are presented, including almost 200 in the Côte-d'Or.
