EDF EN BOURGOGNE FRANCHE-COMTE

Energy specialist

In Burgundy-Franche-Comté, EDF generates 100% renewable electricity by harnessing the region's natural resources: hydro, wind, solar and biomass.

The Group operates 37 production sites comprising 24 hydroelectric power plants, including the Vouglans dam in the Jura, three wind farms at Lomont, Champ Gouleau and Sacy-Télégraphe, producing a total of 57.4 MW, and ten photovoltaic solar farms, including the one in Dijon, inaugurated on November 25, 2021: the Centre d'Enfouissement Technique (CET) in the Valmy district on the outskirts of Dijon was used to install a 16 MWp solar power plant.

EDF'smomentum in renewable energies is very strong, with 10 solar power plants under construction across the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. One of these is Lux, some thirty kilometers north of the Dijon metropolitan area, which will be inaugurated in September 2022 and boasts an 8.5 MWp solar power plant, equivalent to the energy consumption of 2,000 households. The Lux plant features 22,700 two-sided solar panels spread over 8.2 hectares.

in addition to these renewable energy production facilities,Dalkia (a subsidiary of the EDF Group)operates 14 heating networks . Mainly fuelled by biomass, Dalkia is continuing to develop these systems, as at Dijon Métropole's Péjoces heating plant. At the same time, EDF inaugurated France's most powerful renewable hydrogen production and distribution station(1 MW) in Auxerre, built by its subsidiary Hynamics. It is currently the largest renewable hydrogen production and distribution site in France. It is already used to power the region's buses, and will eventually be used to power the region's first hydrogen-powered trains. This station reinforces the leadership of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, a pioneer in hydrogen in France, and EDF is currently building a new station in Belfort.

EDF is also a committed player in regional energy transition:

With its subsidiary Dalkia Electrotechnics (formerly Citelum), the EDF Group is supporting the Dijon metropolis in the realization of France's 1st Smart city. In 2017, Dijon métropole's innovative smart city project was won by the Bouygues Énergies & Services and Citelum (an EDF subsidiary) consortium, along with Suez and Cap Gemini. This is an emblematic example of how EDF works with local authorities to invent their energy future. With this project, the EDF Group is taking a decisive technological step forward in the realization of the SMART CITY that is bringing the Dijon metropolis into the digital and data era. A centralized control station remotely controls traffic lights, street lighting, video protection and manages events occurring in public spaces. Since late 2021, a citizen application has also been available.

Another innovative project for Dijon Metropole is the European Response H2020 project (Integrated Solutions for Positive Energy and Resilient Cities"), for which the EDF Group, a key partner of Dijon Metropole, is developing low-carbon solutions for the city of tomorrow. Along with TURKU in Sweden, Dijon joins the select club of European cities chosen to experiment with the "positive energy district" concept: the European Commission is aiming for around 100 projects by 2025. The Response project is being rolled out in the Fontaine d'Ouche district over a 5-year period. In terms of energy, it involves the largest collective self-consumption operation in France. The project also includes solutions for managing and monitoring carbon emissions and intelligent electric mobility.

EDF RENOUVELABLES - CENTRALE SOLAIRE DE DIJON

Renewable energy specialist

Tothe north of Dijon Métropole, in the Valmy district, the local authority and EDF Renouvelables have transformed a landfill site into a photovoltaic power plant. The 15.6-hectare site has undergone a veritable conversion. The waste, mainly rubble and construction site residues, reached the capacity of the site, which has been gradually closed since 2018. Studies have enabled us to define the contours of a photovoltaic power plant project aimed at rehabilitating the site and giving it a new function, as part of the energy transition desired locally. The new plant will produce around 18,000 MWh/year, enough to meet the electricity needs of around 8,000 inhabitants, or 5% of the local population. The plant will supply electricity for the next 30 years. Inaugurated in November 2021, it has kept local businesses busy for several months. In addition to being an energy asset for the region, the new photovoltaic power plant will generate new tax revenues for both the Côte-d'Or department and Dijon Métropole, as well as creating new skilled jobs to ensure the plant's ongoing operation and maintenance.

In Lux, a few kilometers north of Dijon Métropole, on the Langres plateau, EDF has just invested six million euros to create a second power plant in the Côte-d'Or. Inaugurated in September 2022, it has been producing energy since March 2022, thanks to 22,700 two-sided solar panels spread over 8.2 hectares. The photovoltaic plant generates 8.5 megawatts peak (MWp) of power, equivalent to the energy consumption of 2,000 households. The panels are 95% renewable and can still retain 80% of their initial power even after 25 years of use. The photovoltaic farm project, which in no way disrupts the local landscape, has benefited from the support of the local population, notably through participatory financing.

INSTALLER UNE BORNE DE RECHARGE DANS MA COPROPRIÉTÉ - ENEDIS BOURGOGNE

Renewable energy specialist

More and more drivers are choosing electric cars for their commutes. Today, almost 90% of these vehicles are recharged at home or at work (source: France Stratégie), and almost one household in two lives in a block of flats. As soon as the question of installing a charging station arises within a building, it makes sense to think in terms of a collective rather than individual solution, and one that is scalable. It's an opportunity to reduce installation costs and prepare for the future. It's also an opportunity to add value to the property when selling or renting it.

Enedis is committed to supporting the growth of electric mobility in buildings: Enedis facilitates the deployment of all charging infrastructures, by ensuring their connection, electricity supply and metering of the energy distributed, whatever the chosen installation solution. Today, condominiums and landlords can choose between two collective solutions to equip their parking lots with charging points. As a public service provider, Enedis assists with all the necessary procedures.

If the applicant is a tenant, he or she must request prior authorization from his or her landlord by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, with a copy to the building's managing agent detailing the planned work.

- If the landlord accepts, he must notify the inclusion of the work on the agenda of the general meeting within three months,
- If the landlord refuses, the tenant can give formal notice to the landlord to investigate his request under his right to take.

If the applicant is an owner, he must send his request for inclusion on the general meeting agenda to the managing agent by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt. The request must be accompanied by a detailed description of the planned work, together with a plan or diagram. It is also advisable to enclose quotes from installers, so that co-owners can assess the cost of the work.

Get training before you decide. The Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Mobilité Electrique association, BFC ME, offers free two-hour training courses to introduce the various players in electric mobility and the range of existing solutions. As a trusted third party, the association can provide answers to questions from property managers, social landlords, condominium owners' associations or even the owners themselves, provided 10 people can attend, either face-to-face or remotely.

Steps involved in installing a charging station in a condominium

-Step 1: An individual living in a condominium wishes to acquire an electric or rechargeable hybrid vehicle and have a charging station installed in his or her parking lot. He contacts his Syndic/Landlord to express his need, who then initiates a collective process to install compliant and upgradeable charging stations for the building's residents (owners or tenants).
-2nd step: The Syndic/Landlord is supported by Enedis upstream of his project. Enedis organizes an on-site pre-visit with the Syndic/Landlord, the Syndical Council and electricians/engineers. The Syndic/Landlord or his representative formalises the connection request on the Enedis.fr portal
-3rd stage: Approval by the General Meeting of the solution chosen by the co-ownership, after presentation of the quotes from the various parties involved (electricians/design office, Enedis, etc.) for the different solutions envisaged.
-4thstage : Completion of the work.

2 standard single-phase 230 V recharging levels:
- Prise Véhicule Electrique = 3.7 kVA for occasional recharging
- Borne Véhicule Electrique = 7.4 kVA first level of night recharging

Installation at no cost to the condominium. Alongside private players capable of installing charging stations, a decree published in September 2022 and implemented in February 2023 enables Enedis or the local network operator to carry out the work involved in installing the necessary infrastructure for rechargeable vehicles through horizontal columns, provided that spaces are allocated, whether outdoors, in basements or in boxes. The cost of the work is financed by the operator, in most cases Enedis, and is not passed on to the condominium. Owners will be invoiced individually for the portion of the work paid for by Enedis, if they wish to use the recharging equipment only. Owners then choose their charging station supplier and installer. It takes between six months and a year from the initial steps to the use of the charging stations, including the decision-making process within the co-ownership.
