It is in Roh that we find the monument dedicated to the arrival of the Gospel. Tataio and Taniela were the first Polynesian Protestant catechists who came to evangelize the island in 1841. Anchored in front of Ténane, they reached the shore on board their pirogue. A Samoan, shipwrecked or a deserter who had been living in Maré for several years, directed them to the west where there were tribes. According to oral tradition, they were welcomed in Roh by two elders, Kangiosh and Zinowe. The all-powerful chief of the time, founder of the Naisseline dynasty, Yeiwene Nidoishi, accepted them on his land where they still rest. To reach the site, cross the village, pass in front of the church, turn left and walk 200 meters, without forgetting to ask for permission beforehand. According to Melanesian custom, the bones of the two missionaries were placed in their pirogue, which was hoisted into an excavation in the side of the cliff, 2 meters above the monument. In November, the tribe also organizes the Wajuyu (snapper) festival.
