PARASSINIKADAVU MUTHAPPAN TEMPLE

The only temple in Kerala where the performance of a theyyam is a daily offering in the morning and evening. The presiding deity, Sree Muthappan, is from the folk tradition and not from the Vedas. Built along a river, it is one of the few temples in Kerala where non-Hindus are accepted. It attracts many tourists, but also many devotees. The ceremony is punctuated by the sound of drums and incantations. A real curiosity.
