NEW PALACE BAKERY

A trip to Hamtramck must include a stop at a Polish bakery/pastry shop. New Palace Bakery is one of Detroiters' favorite places to get their famous paczki (pronounced "punch-key"), those tasty round fried baker's yeast doughnuts, usually covered with a sugar glaze and filled with fruit jam or chocolate, buttercream and so on. The place is also packed with other excellent homemade products, such as breads, cookies, pastries, pies, cakes and more.
