The best accommodations Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary

Located in the heart of Thekkady next to the reserve, Écolodge is composed of 15 bungalows built with local materials (bamboo, grass). Only vegetarian catering served is typical of Kerala and is prepared by the local community.

This hotel at the entrance to the reserve offers 24 bungalows, 12 deluxe rooms and 8 duplex rooms. Each one has a private balcony where it is nice to relax after a day in the jungle. The rooms are large, with lots of woodwork. Here, the keralian architecture melts with green hills. There is a fine restaurant offering Indian and Chinese cuisine as well as beer. It is a quiet place, and rates are attractive for an establishment in this category.

Aranya Nivas is located on the shores of Periyar Lake in the middle of the dense forest. In a colonial style, it is the only establishment, with the Lake Palace nestled at the heart of the reserve. 30 rooms are available for travelers. Although located in the middle of the jungle, you will find all modern comforts.

It's a beautiful, pied establishment. The rooms are located around a small square garden. The swimming pool is charming. The rooms are rustic. It's chic and expensive. The restaurant offers quality Chinese, Indian and Western cuisine.

A 5-minute walk from the bus station, this hotel in a large, ugly building offers rooms for poor maintenance, but with a TV. The standard rooms, with narrow double beds, are much less pleasant than deluxe. There is a restaurant. This hotel is not recommended even for very small budgets.

A haven of peace on Lake Periyar from where you will enjoy the only noises of the surrounding flora and fauna, it is the only hotel located at the heart of the reserve.
