About 160 km southeast of Whitehorse is the picturesque town of Teslin. Its lake was on the route to the gold fields during the Klondike Gold Rush of the late 1800s. In 1898, the Hudson's Bay Company established a trading post here, before moving to present-day Teslin. The Nisutlin Bay Bridge, the longest bridge on the Alaska Highway, offers great views of Teslin Lake. The George Johnson Museum and its collection showcase the people of the region. The original First Nations celebration, called the Hà Kus Teyea Celebration, is held every other odd year in Teslin.
