One of the great cities of the Postclassic period and one of the main cities of the K'owoj Maya civilization, with temples and pyramids.
In the twentieth century, several waves of archaeological excavations allowed us to learn more about this site, but it was in 1989 that its restoration really began. After being deserted at the end of the Classic period, Topoxté was one of the largest Postclassic cities in the Petén and one of the main cities of the Maya K'owoj civilization. It has several temples, pyramids and ruined houses - which were the prey of looters in the 1970s and 1980s - spread over five islets, whose architecture resembles that of the buildings of Yaxhá.
