Church surrounded by a fortress in Carrapateira, with beautiful views over the dunes, featuring a Manueline style interior.
This church, dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Conceição, probably dates from the 16th century: on the outside, its forms and compositions are of popular architecture, while the interior shows a more erudite construction in Manueline style. It is surrounded by a fortress built to defend itself against the invasions of the North African corsairs which presents a typical example of the military constructions of the XVIIth century. Beautiful panorama of the dunes and the beach of Bordeira, even more magical at sunset.
