Daniel Boone National Forest stretches over 8 500 km ² west of the Appalachians, on Cumberland Plateau. The only forest in Kentucky to have known as the National Park since 1937, it represents, with its steep wooded slopes, sandstone cliffs and narrow ravines, a true paradise for nature lovers. There are three major lakes (Cave Run Lake, Laurel River Lake and Lake Cumberland), many rivers and streams, and some natural treasures such as Red River Gorge or Cumberland Falls. Due to its configuration (almost 300 km long on a fine strip of approximately 30 km), it is easily accessible from Interstate I -75, between the southern state border and Lexington. His access is totally free.
