The Festa del Cavatore, held in Capoliveri every Sunday before Whitsun, is a reminder of the town's working-class origins.
Capoliveri was the most important centre of the mining region of Mount Calamita and its inhabitants, many of whom worked in the mines, led a difficult and dangerous life. To commemorate this laborious past, the town celebrates every year the "Festa del Cavatore", the Carrier Festival. A group of men in costume walk through the town singing the old songs of the miners, torches in hand. After celebrating a mass in memory of those killed in the workplace, the evening ends with a big banquet.
