Travel Guide Askaniya Nova (Асканія-Нова)

It is one of the most surprising and original places in Ukraine. The German baron von Val @ had the completely crazy idea in the th century of forming a unique nature reserve in Europe, in the steppes of Ukraine, bringing the most original animals. On 2 300 ha, the reserve includes a zoo, a biological garden, and, in exclusivity, a preserved virgin steppe, the only place in Europe where the steppe retains its original appearance. We discover more than 60 species of birds, the black swan swan in the ostrich, but also llamas, zebras and emus… To note, this is the only place in Europe where you can see American buffalo. On the other hand, the famous Prjevalski horse also went there, discovered in 1879 in Mongolia by a Russian explorer that gave him his name. The park's interest also lies in the fact that here is preserved the true Ukrainian steppe, a yellow, isolated and wild expanse, as it was at the time of the Cossacks. Visitors are offered several types of visits organized by the office of the park. The visit of the botanical garden and that of the zoo have a duration of 2 hours each and, although interesting, are surely less exciting than visiting the steppe and safari. Both are on reservation only and with a park guide. Take two days to visit and really enjoy this exceptional place.
