The Musée de l'Hôtel-Dieu - Hospices de Beaune is a must-see when visiting Beaune in Burgundy. Founded in the XVᵉ century by the Chancellor of the Dukes of Burgundy Nicolas Rolin and his wife Guigone de Salins, this flamboyant Gothic-style Hôtel-Dieu is today a museum that traces the history of Burgundy and medieval medicine in the Christian West. Visitors will be able to discover the former patients' wards, the hospital's workings from the XVᵉ century to the 20th century, as well as exceptional works of art such as Rogier van der Weyden's Last Judgment polyptych. The museum also houses an impressive collection of tapestries and chests from the 15th to 17th centuries.
