OGOOUÉ LIANA BRIDGE

This 74 m-long bridge is made entirely of intertwined lianas and bamboo. Built in the early ^19th century, this little marvel of ingenuity is the product of the local people, who found a way to cross a river that was hostile in places. Stories surround this bridge with mystery, announcing that objects lost during the crossing would end up at the foot of a giant tree. The bridge is overhauled every six months by the villagers to ensure its solidity.
