This artificial lake is 299 km long, has 3,161 km of beach, more than 90 side canyons and a capacity of 32 millionm3. Its maximum depth is reached at the Glen Canyon dam, with 171 m. It has several marinas, campgrounds and airfields, which can be accessed from Page. It is mainly used for nautical activities, although the constant drop in water level makes navigation increasingly difficult. Today, the basin is half empty; and, according to scientists, it will never fill up again.

Lake Powell en Utah : Superbe !
A cheval sur les Etats de l’Arizona et de l’Utah, le Lac Powell est un endroit également magnifique. Pour mieux l’admirer dans une relative globalité, nous avons choisi le survol en petit avion de tourisme. Cette excursion a un coût mais c’est sans regret tant le survol permet une vraie découverte de ce lac aux multiples criques et aux couleurs enchanteresses. Je recommande !

Originality
A partir de la petite ville de Page, la visite du lac Powell est un incontournable du coin. Une excursion en bateau permet d’en explorer une grande partie et notamment les canyons. Une très belle ballade où l’on apprend pas mal de choses (entre autre sur les films tournés dans ce site exceptionnel).

nous avons eu la chance de pouvoir survoler en petit avion le lake powell. Nous avons fait de magnifiques photos. La prochaine étape serait de le découvrir en bateau et de pouvoir s'y plonger. L'eau est très claire.

The lake powell was formed by the construction of the Glen Canyon dam which is close to the small town of Page.
The lake is vast and stretches in many meanders formed by canyons in which it is easy to get lost.
There are several companies boats in the main marina which offer more or less long trips on the lake and canyons flooded with it.
It is possible to visit an immersed part of Antelope Canyon. Beautiful walk with white ochre colours, roses and.
This stop in such a site after several days in the Mojave desert is a real refreshing break.

It is a superb site with blue lake and red walls. We take a boat ride to antelope canyon. I recommend it. There is a French translation. The price is around $35 one per person (June 2011), which is reasonable enough for a one hour and a half. I advise you to do the 18:15, because the return you will have beautiful photos at sunset.
