Anasazi archaeological site, discovered in 1959 and occupied between 1250 and 1285 AD.
Located in Forgetten Canyon, this archaeological site of the Puebloan tribes (also called Anasazi), was occupied between 1250 and 1285 A.D. It will be possible to see ancient houses, petroglyphs, and a kiva where religious ceremonies took place. The site was discovered in 1959 before the creation of Lake Powell. According to archaeologists, Defiance House would have been inhabited by 15 to 20 people and was probably abandoned due to droughts, food shortages, enemies, and even over-farming of the land.
