Dam built between 1956 and 1966 that is 215 m high and almost 500 m long in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

Built between 1956 and 1966, it is 215 m high and almost 500 m long. While the width of the top is only 7.50 m, the base is almost 100 m wide. The road does not cross the dam, but rather a spectacular bridge over the river. Nearby, the Carl Hayden Visitor Center is an informative stop. A superb model of the site is on display, and guided tours of the site are organized daily. These were suspended in winter 2023, but are set to resume depending on the decision of the local authorities.

Barrage du Lac Powell en Utah : Impressionnant !
Après la visite du La Powell, la visite du barrage est tout aussi intéressante et impressionnante. Il serait vraiment dommage de faire l’impasse !
When you have Page or one spent the day on Lake Powell, it would be a shame not to Glen Canyon dam. Indeed, including says the description of sly little minx, you really does not go on la digue but on a bridge downstream and overlooking the dam slightly, this metal bridge offers of side views of the lake and the dam, urban vision of the site and other, all contrasts, meandering Colorado unrelentingly leading on its way to the Pacific Ocean, a natural vision, very contrasting.
On both sides, this bridge offers areas refuges for photography allowing photo Colorado river and the dam and the lake.
