Rather unknown, both to Americans and tourists, this park stretches across the arid Guadalupe Mountains in West Texas. Its proximity to Big Bend National Park overshadows it and keeps it in splendid isolation. Yet, although it is not as vast or as varied, it includes the state's highest point, Guadalupe Peak, which rises to 2,667 meters. El Capitan, the park's most striking feature, is a 300-meter-high limestone cliff. Located along the border with New Mexico, this park covers 349 km2.
