The festival is an opportunity to honor the monk Tu Dao Hanh (11th century) considered the inventor of the water puppet theater, a unique technique in the world, originating from the villages of the Red River Delta. The festival is marked by religious ceremonies, the procession of cult tablets and the presentation of offerings. Also popular games, as well as performances of puppet theater on water. Since 2018, the festival is organized as a season of festivities and extends beyond the traditional 3 days.
