It is one of the most venerated pagodas (in fact a group of sanctuaries) in the region. Established on Mount Thây, it was founded in the 11th century and has been rebuilt several times. Located in Quôc Oai district (Sai Son village), 30 km west of Hanoi, it can be reached by the Lang-Hoa Lac road. Just after passing the river (Sông Dây, a tributary of the Red River), turn right to take the small road 421 which leads north. The Thây Pagoda and the Tây Phuong Pagoda are only about ten kilometers away. A small road parallel to the Lang-Hoa Lac road allows to visit them successively.
