OLD CASTLE (STARÝ HRAD)

The ruins of this 13th century castle, which served as a watchtower, are located opposite the one at Strečno on the other side of the Váh river. The first written mention of the castle dates back to 1267. The castle was inhabited until the beginning of the 18th century by a military garrison. After his departure, the castle gradually decayed. It is possible to get there thanks to a ferry that even takes the cars on board or on foot for a superb walk of about 1h30.
