STATION CLIMATIQUE DE NOVÝ SMOKOVEC

At an altitude of 1,018 m, people taking the waters can treat their respiratory diseases or problems thanks to the curative effects of the climate of this mountainous region. This resort was founded in 1875 by Dr. Mikloš Szontagh to become the largest and most important sanatorium in Central Europe during the 20th century. As a famous guest, it welcomed, among others, the Czech poet Jiři Wolker. Now restored, it is an excellent starting point for hiking.
