Site of the famous Battle of the Boyne in 1690, between William III of Orange and King James II
This is the occasion to visit the site of the famous battle of the Boyne (July 12, 1690), during which William III of Orange (leader of the English Protestants) and his father-in-law King James II (or James II), leader of the Irish Catholics, whose army was reinforced by the French, fought for the English throne. William of Orange's victory is still celebrated today by the Protestants of Northern Ireland, every July 12. The Visitor Centre invites you to discover this history.
