LaGrange is a small town in west Georgia, near Alabama and one hour's drive from Atlanta. After having hunted the Indians Creek, the whites settled there in the 1820 s and named the locality in honour of the Domaine de la Fayette domain. Coming here in support of American rebels fighting against the British, our illustrious compatriot would have conspired that these landscapes would remind him of his area of La Grange-Bléneau in Seine-et-Marne. To honour the one who is considered a national hero, American whites decided to call their new city LaGrange. A city that has lived on the textile industry and the treatment of cotton, LaGrange is now a little dusty, giving it a certain charm. But its main attraction is West Point Lake, the largest lake in Georgia where you can stop one night on the road for Alabama or Atlanta. At the other end of this lake, on the border of Alabama, West Point is the last city of the state.
