Cistercian abbey at La Trappe, the only men's monastery in the Orne still in activity, with the possibility of retreats.
The only monastery for men still in operation in the Orne region, the abbey is not open to visitors, except during the 7 daily services. Only the surroundings of the monastery are accessible: an exhibition room presents the history of the site, and a store sells products from France's monasteries. Founded in 1122 by Count Rotrou III and rebuilt in the 19th century, La Trappe became famous with Abbot de Rancé, who introduced the strict observance of the Cistercian order in the 17th century. Individual and group retreats are possible.
