An hour's drive northeast of Regina, in the middle of the prairies, is a valley well worth a visit. The Qu'Appelle River has carved out a series of lakes around the small town of Fort Qu'Appelle, a town of less than 2,000 people, where you can sit back and enjoy the scenery. As for the intriguing name, it comes from a Cree legend. One day, while walking near a lake, a young man heard someone call his name. He exclaimed, "Who is calling?" but only the echo answered. Later, he learns that it was his fiancée, calling him with her last breath.
