Complex exhibiting exceptional collections of furniture and works of art by Italian artists.

While the name Palazzina di Caccia ("hunting lodge") might suggest for a moment that the residence at Stupinigi is a small building for a quiet rest after a ride on horseback, the sheer size of the premises will quickly set one's mind at rest: the Savoy family apparently didn't like half measures, and Stupinigi's Palazzina di Caccia is one of the most beautiful castles in the Turin region, one of the jewels in the famous "crown of delights" that encircles the capital of Piedmont. And this royal residence of the House of Savoy is further enriched by an incredible array of parks and gardens... This rococo palace was built according to plans by the great architect Filippo Juvarra, commissioned by Victor-Amédée II in 1729. The building's role as a hunting lodge is evoked by the statue of a stag on the roof. Since 1919, this complex of unique originality and architectural prowess has been home to the Musée d'Art et d'Ameublement, with its exceptional collections of furniture and objets d'art created by the most renowned Italian craftsmen. Exciting themed tours, including various aspects of court life, are organized on a regular basis, and tours in French can be booked in advance. The huge park surrounding the Palazzina di Caccia was declared a nature reserve in 1991, and is home to many wild boar, squirrels and pheasants.
