Covering an area of nearly 2,000 km2, the Gouin Reservoir is a group of hundreds of small lakes dotted with countless islands. Its shoreline is more than 5,600 km long. Linked by logging road, the indigenous community of Obedjiwan is settled on its shores. The reservoir is named after Sir Jean-Lomer Gouin, Premier of Quebec from 1905 to 1920. It is the territory par excellence for hunters, fishermen, ATVers and snowmobilers with many outfitters and base camps located in the surrounding area. It is also the realm of houseboats which, as their name suggests, provide a real floating home.
