A national park since 2013, the Lokobe protected area covers 740 ha. Covered by the Sambirano forest, it is home to the Eulemur macaco lemur (seen in October/November), as well as 17 species of birds, including the Malagasy kingfisher and the Madagascar owl. A two-hour walk through the reserve takes you through a beautiful tropical forest of vanilla and ravenala trees. A local variety of boas, frogs and chameleons can also be seen. On the way back, at the end of the beach, you'll see small amphibious blue-gray fish crawling across the sand and climbing into the mangroves. A great day out awaits you!
