The Guadeloupe Zoo is located in the heart of the Basse-Terre massif on the Route de la Traversée. These 4 hectares of tropical forest are dedicated to the conservation of rare or endangered animal species. More than 85 endemic animal species from the West Indies and elsewhere, some 450 individuals, are housed here. You can observe local animals such as raccoons, iguanas, bats and dynastes, as well as species from French Guiana's wild fauna (monkeys, jaguars, ocelots, caimans, alligator turtles, anaconda, puma, toucans). There's always something new at the zoo! In early 2025, a baby jaguar christened Taïnos by visitors and a baby atèle, a spider monkey from Central America, named Malya, were born at the Guadeloupe Zoo.
To complete this discovery of the rich local biodiversity, the zoo offers visitors a walk in the Canopy, included in the price of the visit! This safe, tree-top walk over suspension bridges is as unique as it is unforgettable!
Every day at 12 noon and 3.30 p.m., there are activities to share the passion of our caretakers. These are truly privileged moments between visitor and groomer, as they also help visitors understand the role of the Zoo de Guadeloupe and highlight the Zoo's actions to protect Guadeloupe's wildlife.
The walk is accessible to all, whatever the weather, and offers a real immersion into the heart of Guadeloupean nature.

The Parc des mamelles located in the middle of the tropical forest realizes a real protection of the local wildlife and now also of the Guyanese wildlife...
While walking along the marked paths of the park in the heart of the rainforest you will discover the flora of Guadeloupe in its natural setting, giant gum trees and ferns, beeches, incense, banded wood, so many evocative names that will delight you and will be presented to you through complete and playful educational panels.
The visit of the canopy will remain for you an unforgettable moment because for the first time you will be able, by walking on suspended bridges, to reach in full safety, the life of the world from above.

Quel enchantement de visiter le Parc Zoologique des Mamelles ! Niché dans un écrin de verdure luxuriante, ce parc est bien plus qu'un simple zoo ; c'est une véritable bouffée d'air frais et un hymne à la biodiversité. Dès l'arrivée, on est immédiatement enveloppé par l'atmosphère paisible et l'énergie vibrante de la nature environnante.
Les allées ombragées invitent à une promenade sereine, permettant de découvrir une faune variée et fascinante. On y rencontre des animaux magnifiques, chacun semblant s'épanouir dans un environnement qui respecte au mieux ses besoins.
