A former Benedictine abbey with many facilities annexed to Saint-Évroult, a spiritual high place until the Revolution.
The remains of this former Benedictine abbey have been beautifully preserved, and the site has been listed as a historic monument since 1967. Although a first monastery appears to have been damaged by various raids in the 9th century, the abbey was restored from the 11th century onwards. Numerous ancillary facilities made it a spiritual Mecca until the French Revolution: abandoned, the abbey fell into disrepair, with the tower of its transept collapsing in 1802, destroying vaults and arches. An adjoining room provides all the necessary information.
