JEWELLERS' STREET

North of the bus station and the central market, lies one of the city's sights. Kasthuriyar Road is a lively street where the main jewellers of Jaffna have settled, hence the nickname Jewellers' Street. The majority of the shops offer mainly gold jewellery, which Tamils love, but also silver, watches... It is pleasant to walk around to observe the sparkling ornaments of the women in coloured saris and to do some window shopping after having strolled in the market and in the city centre.
