By road, about 30 km from Glodeni, at Braniște, turn right towards Costești, you are on the shore of the largest lake in Moldova (59 km²). The village is ancient and was founded near Prut in 1492 on the initiative of Alexandru Vodă. Costești has a church dedicated to Saint Nicholas. Development work in the second half of the 1970s led to the formation of the lake. The lake and its surroundings form a protected reserve that is home to 85 species of birds. The area is ideal for lovers of nature walks. From Costești it is possible to cross the border into Romania
