The Carter Family home, which survived the Battle of Franklin.
The Carter family survived the Battle of Franklin, which took place... in their garden! Taking refuge in the cellar, the Carters lost a son, Captain Tod Carter, wounded in action in the estate garden. One of the most violent battles of the Tennessee campaign of 1864, the defeat at Franklin helped spell the end of the Confederate army.

The site is nice. But it is very expensive and while visiting is done with audio-guide, they do not choose as languages. Very difficult to understand. It would have been simpler with a guide or writing.
