Located opposite the National Civil Rights Museum and the Lorraine Motel, The Blues Foundation was founded in 1980. Its mission is to preserve the history of the blues, and it works with more than 175 other organizations around the world to this end. You can visit its Hall of Fame, which honors several representatives of the musical genre each year. Since 1980, the foundation has inducted over 350 inductees (artists, industry professionals, authors and writers). Among the best-known inductees are Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan and many others.
