Darien is a small sleepy town on the edge of Highway 17. Like the other villages on this road, it is overrun by vegetation, its wooden houses sometimes shelter a boat for shrimp fishing, its churches await Sunday mass. This is the gateway to the Golden Isles. Nothing spectacular but a unique atmosphere, to the image of the region.
