The 39 th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981 was born in Plains, Georgia (220 km south of Atlanta). A staunch human rights defender, he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 as a reward for his «efforts to resolve international conflicts through peaceful solutions, to advance democracy and human rights». The Museum's museum honours and presents a repository of documents, notes and correspondence written by Jimmy Carter while stationed at the White House, as well as thousands of photographs, and hundreds of hours of audio and video recordings.
