A true outer banks institution, this large pontoon was built in 1939. Since the North Carolina coast is often subject to the threat of hurricanes, the pontoon has been repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. One of the four aquariums of the State is: the North Carolina Aquarium (Jeannette's Pier).
