NATIONAL GALLERY
Read moreThe National Gallery in Harare was established in 1957 from a collection of European works to which African works were added. Sculptures are displayed inside and in the gardens; paintings and a multitude of African art objects are found on the ground and upper floors. The visit is as interesting as it is instructive, revealing some of the lesser-known aspects of African traditions. The gallery also organizes numerous workshops, films, lectures and hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
MUKUVISI WOODLAND
Read moreMukuvisi Woodland is a sanctuary of about 270 ha, consisting of a beautiful forest and a game reserve. The latter is home to several varieties of antelope, as well as zebras, giraffes and crocodiles. A huge aviary has also been built next to a viewing deck, a conference center and a children's playground. Mukuvisi Woodland happens to be the headquarters of half a dozen other environmental associations. It's a fun family outing just a short walk from downtown Harare.
