SILVER HOLE
The most publicized beach of Rodrigues, ranked among the most beautiful in the Indian Ocean, highlighted on brochures
Only accessible on foot, Trou d'Argent is the most publicized beach of Rodrigues, ranked among the most beautiful in the Indian Ocean and systematically highlighted on tourist brochures. In truth, it is not a full-fledged beach with all that this notion implies in terms of space and openness, but rather a very large cove wedged between two silver cliffs and whose deep translucent waters offer wonderful swimming conditions. Although it is the one most often mentioned, it is not the only one of its kind, especially on this eastern coast with its indented coastline. If you choose to take the long coastal hike from Saint-François or, even further, from Port Sud-Est to Pointe Coton (a classic excursion undertaken by almost all travelers), you will discover just before and just after Trou d'Argent other creeks that are quite similar and similarly embedded between silver-gray cliffs - such as Anse Bouteille or Anse Philibert (still called Grande Anse). But Trou d'Argent has that je-ne-sais-quoi which gives it more charm than the others to the point of being a popular destination for walks and/or picnics for travellers and locals alike. This success does not denature the site which one can be lucky enough, at certain slower periods of the day or the year, to enjoy alone - a blessed moment still possible in preserved and intact destinations such as Rodrigues. But until when?
Cependant que se soit l'une ou l'autre, ces criques voisines sont tout simplement des lieux splendides qui méritent d'être découverts !
