TEMPLE DONGLIN
Located 20 km from Jiujiang, at the foot of Mount Lu, it was founded in 386 by the monk Huiyuan and is recognized as one of the cradles of Buddhism in China. Although the temple has suffered destruction in the course of history, it has been rebuilt and continues to be an important place of pilgrimage. Worth seeing: the great prayer hall, featuring a majestic statue of Amitabha Buddha, the embodiment of infinite compassion. Outside, the enormous 48-metre golden statue of Amitabha, visible from afar. Ancient frescoes and calligraphy adorn the temple walls.
