Textile museum featuring nearly 30,000 pieces from around the world, including fabrics, garments and fashion journals from the century.
Known as the city of velvet and silk, Krefeld was the cradle of the silk industry in the 17th century. Founded by Mennonite religious refugees, the industry developed thanks to the support of Frederick the Great. The German Textile Museum in Krefeld looks back on this fascinating history and offers a beautiful collection of fabrics, historical clothing and fashion journals from the 19th century. In all, nearly 30,000 pieces from around the world! Weaving workshops are also offered.
