This 1913 synagogue is one of the largest and best preserved in Germany. Since 2010, it has been home to the home of the Jewish culture in Essen, after having been unused since the war. Immediately next door lies the Rabbinic house, which dates back to the same year and was built by the same architect. About 2500 Jews in Essen were murdered by the Nazis between 1933 and 1945.
