Church with pagan paintings and medieval sculptures depicting the lives of St. Catherine and St. Nicholas.
3 km from Angla. The church, built in the 14th century, is the smallest medieval church on the island. It is worth visiting for its pagan paintings (intended to scare away demons) and its medieval sculptures depicting the lives of St Catherine and St Nicholas. A place to sleep was probably used by pilgrims travelling through Scandinavia and Gotland to this place. For your information: it is even the rural church with the most medieval stone carvings in the whole of the Baltic States.
