MUSEUM OF HISTORY AND ETHNOGRAPHY
This modest little museum was founded in 1969. It is located between the post office and the police station, 100 m southwest of the park and the stadium. The city has a long history and was founded by the Nogai Tatars. It is mentioned in a document of 1589. It is also the birthplace of Mihail Ciachir (1861-1938), an Orthodox priest of Gagauz origin who researched the history of his people and published many works on his language. A bust of him is enthroned in front of the House of Culture. The city also inspired the painter Mihai Grecu for his painting The Women of Ceadîr-Lunga, created in 1960 and commemorated by a 40 bani stamp issued in 2002 by the Moldavian postal service. The Museum of History and Ethnography has a collection devoted to the history of the earth (stones, fossils...), as well as everyday objects evoking the peasant life of yesteryear: carpets, embroidery with beautiful floral motifs, utensils, traditional costumes, handicrafts... You can also see a series of historical documents from different periods, old coins, photographs of the local population at different times... This museum is a good opportunity to immerse yourself in the past, culture and traditions of the region.
In Ceadîr-Lunga, you can also see the Orthodox church of Notre-Dame-de-Kazan, recognizable by its two bell towers and its blue colour. In the surroundings there is also a nunnery monastery and the old wooden mill.
