The republican Licurici ("Lucioles") theatre was founded in 1945 and is very well known. It is noticeable by its Soviet architecture. Puppet and dance shows for children, only in Romanian and Russian languages, are performed there. The repertoire is largely based on classical stories, folklore, legends, tales and Romanian, Moldavian or Russian literature. The programming is often renewed and the artists are very talented.
