Square with a beautiful palace and lively terraces in Padua.
The Piazza dei Signori is so called because it was the home of the Carraresi, lords of the city from 1308 to 1405. It was here that jousts and tournaments were held, as well as a bull hunt on Shrove Thursdays. You can still see the column decorated with the Venetian lion, a symbol that recalls the domination of Padua by the Serenissima for almost four centuries. Finally, if you look around, you can't help but admire the façade of the Palazzo del Capitaniato and the clock with its blue dial. On summer evenings, the terraces of the square are crowded.
